SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

What is the Role?

Our Business Unit in Chichester (West Sussex) is currently looking to recruit a new Mechanical Pipefitter/Welder with gas qualifications, to carry out boiler room refits and minor works as required on an operational basis.

The candidate would need good practical and organizational skills, with the ability to follow technical instructions and an understanding of safe working practices. If required, training will be provided to fulfil the required tasks.

On a day to day basis you’ll be involved in precisely cutting, bending, threading, welding, or crimping of metals such as carbon steel and galvanised steel pipework. As well as soldering, brazing, compressing, or crimping of copper pipework. Installation of distribution heating systems and heat emitters and pumps. This will all be completed while ensuring that all water, heating, and gas systems are safely isolated to industry standards and ACOPs, whilst complying with all SSE safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Strong fabrication/engineering background in a similar environment

Work flexible working hours to suit business requirements.

You’ll be qualified to carry out Metal-Arc Welding of Carbon Steel Pipework.

Work on own or as part of team to meet required deadlines and contract performance standards

Carry out installations across the estate as directed by Contract Manager (within capabilities and training)

Any other tasks required by company within skill set / experience

Ability to train, develop and give support to apprentices A key team player with a flexible and pro-active approach to work.

Must be enthusiastic, understand and demonstrate the importance of customer satisfaction to the highest standard, and thrive when working under pressure

City and Guilds (C&G)/Modern Apprenticeship in Pipefitting/Welding and or NVQ Level 3

CSCS Skill Card Abrasive Wheel Training

MEWP Certificate IPAF Certificate

Asbestos Awareness Training

Manual Handling Training
