What is the Role?

In this central role, you’ll be primarily accountable for the integration and management of a changing and significant set of IT services from a diverse set of internal and external suppliers. Key to your success will be ensuring cost effective delivery of a variety of high-performance end-to-end IT operational services under a number of commercially defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

As the primary conduit for a large and diverse set of IT services valued at several million pounds per annum, you will be central in supporting two organisations in achieving major goals and ultimately being able to realise their visions. Your primary customer will be reliant on you to provide services ranging from IT infrastructure through to a number of applications which support both the core business and corporate functions over a multi-year period. While proactively maintaining or exceeding service levels, you will work alongside a complex programme of change progressively replacing the whole suite of services while simultaneously evolving the service supply chain delivering diverse professional services, applications, technology services, software, cloud and devices.

A key part of the role will be the commercial and contractual management spanning both services provided and services received from an external company, with a complex interrelationship between the both. Services supplied will be sourced from a mixture of internal teams and external organisations, each with their own supply chains and underpinning agreements.

Your secondary responsibilities will be to act as the intelligent customer for a large set of IT application services required by elements of the SSE group under commercial agreement with an external entity. Again, working in tandem with a multi-party service migration programme, you will ensure that services are received to the levels required, commercial obligations are met, risks managed and any required changes are correctly implemented over the multi-year life of the contract.

What do I need?

Accountable for the delivery of services under the contract, you will have to marshal a number of existing capabilities, each with different states of maturity, and be skilled in engaging both internal teams and external parties under contract. The breadth and variety of services covered requires the ability to deal with both volume and complexity and a strong grasp of service management disciplines to apply to extremely varied and sometimes only partially understood contexts.

Experience of managing the delivery of IT services in a commercial environment will be invaluable with exposure to transitional service provision in M&A contexts a distinct advantage.

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management which, along with your commercial, contractual and supplier management skills, will be essential to being successful in this role.

Your significant experience will include:

- Dealing with insourced, partner and outsourced resources, both off and on shore.

- Diverse commercial, financial, contract and supplier management experience.

- Working in large organisations with complex service catalogues.

- Working in IT at a management level with strong leadership experience in professional IT Service Management.

- Excellent effective stakeholder management including excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.

- Knowledge spanning a broad range of IT services and disciplines, coupled with expertise in professional standards.

- Use of Service Management processes and best practice such as ITIL; qualified to ISEB Managers certificate level.
