About the Department

Energy Customer Solutions is the face of SSE to our customers in GB and Ireland, providing leading and reliable B2B services as well as leading retail solutions for our B2C customers.

SSE’s Business Energy smart metering programme exists to ensure that we can offer and successfully install smart meters to all of our customers. The ‘Advanced Meter Rollout’ (AMR) leg of the programme is established and has been running for a number of years, while the "SMETS2" leg of the programme is delivering a new technical capability and mobilising to contact and install for a new set of customers in 2020.

What is the Role?

The "Demand and Install" team is responsible for ensuring that there is an active, multi-channel, tailored approach to engaging our customers, and generating the "Demand" of booked smart meter install appointments, and that the programme can successfully and efficiently "Install" smart meters for our customers. This team now has an established leadership team and is recruiting analysts to support the leads in delivering effective campaign and installs, and driving their ongoing improvement.

Key Accountabilities

As we are looking to recruit a number of analysts into the programme, the exact accountabilities will vary whether the analyst focusses more on "Demand" or "Install". These preferences and suitability’s will be discussed during the interview stage. Example accountabilities include:

- Customer incentives

Designing and planning small incentive initiatives – leading on initial scoping, developing stakeholder presentation materials, building high level business case, process design, and driving multiple parties to ensure successful delivery (e.g. legal, sales, procurement etc). Designing and producing incentive progress reporting.

- Performance dashboards

Designing and delivering demand or install performance dashboards – scoping the top level and lower level dashboards and supporting excel spreadsheets, reviewing with stakeholders, sourcing and checking the data, then running on a daily, weekly or monthly basis 

- Reporting

Providing ad hoc support and insight based on the regular reporting: spotting and investigating trends or unexpected findings. Proactively looking for approaches to resolve reporting or performance issues

- Campaign and install design

Providing support and input to overall campaign design approach, and field force install roll out approach

- Continuous improvement

Reviewing existing or planned processes, suggest and design improvements, support planning and delivery of improvements

- Governance

Supporting project leads in their roles: development of presentation materials, facilitating workshops, carrying out analysis, updating plans, minuting meetings and chasing actions

What do I need?

- No essential business knowledge required, but experience of working on regulatory projects, preferably in the energy sector, or on smart meter rollout programmes would be beneficial, but is not critical

- Experience working in a business project management environment: delivering projects/change

- Working in an analytical environment: developing reports and MI, carrying out analysis

- Experience of working on regulatory projects, preferably in the energy sector, or on smart meter roll-out programmes

- Working knowledge of industry standard project methods, either waterfall project methodology or agile

- Stakeholder management skills

- Strong attention to detail

- Assertive and capable of working flexibly
