 About the Department 

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain. 

What is the Role?  

SHE Transmission requires a Lead Project Coordinator to lead project administration, co-ordination and control functions on the Shetland HVDC Link project. The role will require management of a team of Project Co-ordinators and Document Controllers supporting various major contracts in the delivery of the HVDC link between mainland Scotland and the Shetland Isles in addition to providing executive personal assistant support to the Project Director. 

You'll manage the preparation and compilation of key project documents, and will ensure all the project teams travel, calendars, meetings and necessary scheduling are carried out smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you'll interact with key stakeholders for the project, liaising on project details and attending meetings where required. In addition, you'll look after all associated engagement paperwork for the projects, such as invoices, Purchase Orders, requisitions and external resource engagement requests. 

The Lead Project Coordinator will be required to travel to project sites on occasion with staff based in Wick and Shetland. Travel to other SSE offices in Perth or Glasgow will also be required. 

What do I need? 

To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask that you have excellent administration and organisational skills; this role is a busy one and will allow you an opportunity to learn about our business and interact with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be highly literate with a keen eye for detail, and an ability to prioritise workload in demanding timescales. You should also have a proven ability to manage different stakeholders at once, sometimes with conflicting priorities, and be able to prioritise and work in the most effectively way.  

You will have previous experience managing a small team in a project support environment, preferably in a regulated sector and within a client-side organisation. Experience of staff and financial management systems such as Harmony or Oracle would be advantageous as would demonstrable executive personal assistance experience. 

Your role will directly support the Project leadership team whilst recruiting and building your own team in preparation for up and coming contracts and project works commencing mid-2020.
