About the Department

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.

What is the Role

As the Performance & Improvement Manager you will drive high levels of performance and capability in SHE Transmission by acting as a coordination point to align and prioritise key performance outcomes across the organisation. This encompasses business leadership of a number of crucial areas including:

- delivery against budget and regulatory plan which is necessary to achieve efficient and compliant business operation

- monitoring the performance of the business and ensuring timely action is taken to maintain performance against plan

- ensuring that end-to-end processes are governed across the organisation to efficiently deliver optimal performance for our customers and stakeholders

You’ll work closely with your colleagues in various departments to ensure all required elements are captured and being carried out effectively. This is a good opportunity to also learn and understand more about our Ofgem requirements, and how we develop business plans to support these requirements in our projects.

What do I need?

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you hold a qualification in a relevant discipline, to a minimum SVQ/NVQ level 5, in a field such as construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field. If you don’t hold a qualification, equivalent experience is also great.

You should have experience in a similar role, and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Energy industry, and the nature of our market. Your role will involve liaising and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, therefore it is crucial that you have excellent communication skills, along with outstanding organisation and customer relationship skills.
