What is the Role

SSE Renewables’ Engineering and Innovation department plays a significant role in the delivery of SSE's multi £billion investment programmes, and operation of over 11,000 megawatts of electricity generation capacity.  They provide expertise across a wide range of engineering disciplines to ensure successful project design development, and best practice asset management across our significant renewables fleet.

As Condition Monitoring Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the routine machine health checks of the rotating plant and reporting any issues to site engineers and other stakeholders with the appropriate prioritisation and urgency.

In conjunction with this, you’ll also be accountable for;

-Operating, managing and maintaining condition monitoring tools, systems and software connected to the monitoring process.

-Managing and liaising with the internal and 3rd party providers of IT, software and systems, ensuring they are available and fit for purpose

-Working closely with site engineers, operations teams and asset engineering teams in order to maintain asset integrity and availability.

-Providing an effective and reliable service to customer sites.

-Showing commitment to working efficiently and cost effectively

-Identifying value in tasks and projects which are undertaken.

-Being an ambassador for working safely and promoting our strong safety culture across the team.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for you to have the following;

-Minimum qualification to at least ISO 18436-2 Vibration Analysis Category 2

-An understanding of how reliability and availability of assets contributes to business profitability.

-Knowledge of how asset integrity relates to engineering standards.

-The ability to undertake engineering analysis and ascertain machine condition using monitored parameters and data features such as vibration signatures, data trends and patterns.

-Experience in using analytical tools such as Beran, System 1, OsiSoft, Excel and Matlab to support system monitoring and reporting.

-An understanding of test equipment such as vibration monitoring hardware, data acquisition and processing.

-The ability to priorities and plan effectively

-Strong networking, communication and stakeholder management skills.
