About the Department

The Enterprise Division comprises four companies: Contracting, Rail, Telecoms and Utilities. The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.

SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M+E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M+E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

What is the Role

SSE Contracting's Street Lighting Design Team are currently recruiting for a Design Assistant due to an increase in contract wins and associated workload, to join the team to assist with our Leeds PFI LED Lighting project.

This role will involve assisting with the preparation of drawings, schedules and associated documentation in conjunction with the Design Team. You will be required to liaise with various clients and members of the public and provide administration assistance on all aspects of the lighting design process.

You will need to plan, organise, monitor and control your time to ensure effective delivery of the project, ensuring commitments are always kept whilst identifying and implementing opportunities to develop self and team through innovation.

You will represent SSE Contracting at local level ensuring all enquiries/complaints are handled in the appropriate manner and acting as an ambassador for SSE.

What do I need?

To be considered for the role of Design Assistant, it would be ideal but not essential to have good working experience and knowledge of AutoCAD and IT systems such as Excel and Word.

You need to have exceptional organisational skills with an ability to work efficiently within a high-pressure environment.

As a strong team player, you will have excellent relationship building skills and good verbal & written communication skills and with a thorough attention to detail.
