Our Role:

The main purpose of the Bid Manager is to provide the overall leadership for the development and delivery of proposals and bid.  Leads individuals from multiple disciplines and orchestrates planning, execution, review and reporting activities. The ultimate goal of the Bid Manager is to deliver exceptional bids that make the customer's decision to choose SSE over the competition easy.

Key Accountabilities will include:

- Delivering guidance, help and support to qualify an opportunity throughout the bid process.

- Identifying and reporting on the risk profile on bids.

- Ensuring bids follow and adhere to SSE Telecom and Corporate governance gating and processes.

- Stakeholder engagement and management.

- Ownership of the preparation, delivery and upkeep of the bid plan.

- Preparing and leading bid kick off meetings including presentation, strategy, competitor analysis, solution approach and responsibilities to achieve the win.

- Drive and schedule all bid reviews throughout the process form sign on to closure planning. Providing status updates and highlighting risk.

- Managing all bid resource and activity during planning, preparation and post submittal phases of the bid including any subcontractors or third party engagement to the bid.

- Coach sales and bid teams in the use of bidding best practices, tools and techniques to drive effectiveness of bids and increase win probability.

- Responsible for the formal handover from bid to project. Conducting formal handover and acceptance.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate for this role will have an understanding of SSE’s sales framework and review processes including the inputs and outputs of SSE Telecoms and SSE Enterprise governance gating. They will have a good grasp of SSE organisation dynamics as well as SSE Plc, Enterprise and Telecoms strategy.

You'll be able to analyse customer requirements, SSE capability and competitors to develop credible win strategies that differentiate SSE, display executive Summary and Bid writing skills and also possess an excellent understanding of bid management processes and procedures and best practices e.g. Shipley. You'll have proven experience in all aspects of the bid process, a core competencies of Bid Management with a demonstrable record of success in managing and winning bids. You'll be IT literate with experience across the Microsoft suite of packages including SharePoint.

As an individual, you'll be a clear and effective communicator at all levels within an organisation, self-confident with a strong intellect, quick thinking with the ability to understand, manage and influence multiple stakeholders. You'll be seen as a strong leader of teams and have the ability to build, inspire, motivate and coach bid teams. With strong thinking and problem solving skills, you'll have personal impact and be seen as a leader of teams through action and behaviour, able to influence at all levels within the organisation.
