The Role

As National Accounts Director, you will be responsible for securing, maintaining and developing new and existing national accounts with FM companies and end users. You will lead the strategic management of these accounts, liaising with Business Managers and other channel leads within the business as and when required. This is a senior management position, reporting directly to the Business Director and with accountability to other board members. You will work alongside the senior management team developing and executing the National Accounts strategy and working with colleagues across the UK business.

As National Account Director, you will build long term and mutually beneficial relationships with clients through formal business agreements.  These relationships will deliver strong customer insights, demonstrate continuous development of customer account plans, lead the innovation process bringing efficient market delivery and optimising commercial and market performance – and additionally, you’ll achieve this across multiple streams involving colleagues from the wider Energy Solutions division.

The National Accounts strategy is core in our drive to become a market leader, driving sales, retention and transformation; you will be expected to inject leadership energy, pace, rigour and commerciality combined with the passion to delight customers in everything we do. You’ll demonstrate strong collaborative leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to direct reports and peers alike.

Your Skills & Experience

You will be currently operating as a strategic sales/account management leader with relevant experience within Building Energy Management Systems, complementary Building Management Services or Facilities Management.  You’ll bring credibility to lead within a complex organisation, possessing an exceptional mix of commercial, sales, and delivery leadership skills.

You’ll have a strong understanding of key commercial concepts, which will include designing and implementing strategy, insight, value management, customer experience, forecasting and financial performance.  Additionally, you’ll have the ability to forge compelling commercial proposals, sell business cases and to responsibly manage budgets to create future value for SSE.
