Our Role

The Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Asset Management Systems team manage several IT systems to support the data held on our Distribution Network assets. These systems are used by Asset Management and the wider SSEN business to help inform investment decisions on our Network and to aid regulatory reporting to Ofgem on our Secondary Deliverable performance. The systems have several functions which include data collection on the condition of our assets, storing data on the type of assets, their locations, their connectivity on our Network and provide model calculations to understand the assets current and future risk on our Network.

Working within the Asset Management team this role will require the successful applicant to run and analyse the inputs and outputs of our Asset systems, carry out data integrity checks, day to day management of the systems, providing reporting and KPIs to key business areas and being a point of reference to the system users.

These IT systems are all recent additions to Asset Management. There are projects currently in play to improve, further develop and expand the use of these systems to improve efficiency and meet our targets set internally and externally. As part of this role you will also be required to work on these projects to provide guidance and ensure business as usual activity is not impacted.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a background in data analytics with knowledge and experience using databases, data analysis tools and Microsoft tools. You will have an understanding of the Distribution Business Environment and also an understanding of the implications of the UK Regulatory Environment.

You’ll have a keen eye for detail and will have high personal standards and strive to constantly improve processes. Having excellent interpersonal skills, you will be capable of building lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels. As a result of this, you will have first class verbal and written communication skills, being able to convey your position in a clear and concise manner. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly, accurately and independently
