Our Role

We are looking for a Developer to join our Emerging Technologies Team, responsible for carrying out research and building working demonstrations and proof-of-concepts using the latest technology. You’ll undertake development of software and hardware technologies that have potential benefit to SSE through the investigation and adoption of new and existing IT capability, as we grow our capabilities and move towards IT’s overall goal of becoming more proactive and customer-focused.

Your Skills and Experience

You'll need to be flexible and adaptable in learning new technologies with prior experience in a similar role or as a solid software/application developer. It's an extremely exciting yet challenging role, but the rewards can be game changing.

You’ll have a good understanding of the full software development life cycle.  Additionally, you’ll have excellent technical computing, analysis, design and development skills and recent technical or functional experience from within a similar support or development role.

Self-motivated with excellent personal effectiveness, you’ll be able to manage your own workload and work independently.

You’ll also have a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving. The ability to deliver quality work to strict deadlines in a pressurised environment is vital for this role as is strong communication skills across all organisational levels and media.
