Our Role

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to be part of a developing mechanical division based at our Bristol depot, providing a specialist service throughout the region and surrounding counties. This is a key role within the region and you'll be responsible for identifying and developing sustainable business opportunities as well as the design ,estimating, planning and delivery of associated work projects, to provide a consistent workflow and optimise profit contribution to the business.

Your Skills and Experience

To be considered for this vacancy you should have extensive knowledge and experience of mechanical engineering within the UK Building Services industry including an awareness of key local projects and client/customer base.

You should have demonstrable commercial acumen and a breadth of experience across a range of contracting activities. Ideally you will have attained industry relevant qualifications to at least BTEC as well as having completed a craft apprenticeship.

As an individual you will possess excellent management skills and a proven ability to identify, develop, design, quote and deliver projects offering a high profit contribution to the business. You’ll have a thorough understanding of technical drawings and a proven ability to balance customer requirements, commercial priorities and, technical design to deliver consistent workflow and high profit contribution. You’ll be capable of astute project administration and financial management of projects and will monitor quality and safety in the workplace. An experienced user of general office applications, you should be proficient in MS Project and appropriate Company systems.

The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.

SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
