Job Title: Lead Design Engineer - Offshore

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £41,500 – £62,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available

The Role

You will play a key role in coordinating the engineering activity within the project team. Leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team to complete the assessment and analysis required to develop cost effective technical solutions to address the challenging physical conditions and economic objectives of the project. 

You will manage the Design Development activities for individual projects and providing effective Design governance in accordance with SSE Projects Governance requirements and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include the development of appropriate design strategies, production of design deliverables to schedule and quality, and management of budgets between £5M – £10M per project.

You will provide effective coordination of internal and external engineering resource to support delivery of the design development requirements, including the coordination of appropriate Technical Authorities throughout the project.

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have a track record of managing engineering for large infrastructure projects together with a commercial acumen to ensure design solutions are cost effective and meet the business need. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential to ensure you can work across multidiscipline teams as is the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.

You will be degree educated in either Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural or Marine engineering and have achieved Chartered status. A project management qualification or relevant experience should be demonstrated.

Experience in managing an engineering team is essential. Execution experience of Onshore wind, Offshore wind and/or large scale marine/offshore engineering projects is a prerequisite.
