Job Title: Area Service Manager – Commercial Metering Services

Location: Newbridge, Edinburgh

Salary: £30,432 – £40,190 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

The Role

As Area Service Manager you will lead, motivate and performance manage an Operations team to deliver the business unit’s compliance mandates and functional KPI’s.

Working with all the relevant business areas of SSE, you will ensure your team operates as a high performing team by giving them brilliant basics, supporting their learning, embedding management control and providing continuous improvement into their way of working. You will make a difference and motivate your team to do the right things brilliantly and to deliver excellent customer service. Creating an environment where best practice is shared within the team and across your peer group will be key to driving performance and efficiencies.

Utilisation of management information and data is key to ensure you are able to drive performance and to ensure the importance of achieving target is understood by your team. As Safety is a priority within all that we do you will achieve a compliant HSE and performance record by ensuring that you and your team always ‘do the right thing.’

Your Skills and Experience

In order to be successful in this role you should have previous experience in coaching and/or managing staff in order for them to achieve their KPIs. Experience in a similar industry would be desirable but no essential. You must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to analyse and discuss information and then present this information in an engaging manner to 20+ colleagues. You should clearly understand the requirement for new technology and coach others to succeed with systems and IT related issues and in doing so be able to use technology to understand problems and then create solutions. From a financial perspective you should be able to numerically interrogate budgets and forecasts and look to make efficiencies where possible.
