Permanent/Full Time Hours

Our Role

You’ll assist in the management, placement and ongoing administration of insurance coverages placed on behalf of SSE’s Group and Joint Venture Companies. Additionally, you’ll support the development of insurance placements and the adherence to insurance procedures across the business. Maintaining awareness of developing risk issues and mitigating exposure through the placement of insurance coverage will also be a key part of the role. Competitive premium and coverage terms are of the highest importance so you’ll need to engage with and negotiate effectively with insurance brokers and insurance markets to ensure you achieve these. Whilst assisting in the annual renewal and budgeting processes you’ll also engage with Finance colleagues on the Corporate recharge model.

An element of travel in the UK and Ireland will be necessary so a valid driver’s licence is essential.

For the right candidate, there will be significant potential for career development and progression within our Insurance function.

Your Skills and Experience

It is essential that you already hold a CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance or an IRM qualification, or can evidence that you are they are working towards achieving this goal soon.

You’ll demonstrate experience in administering the insurance requirements of large corporate or risk-managed concerns which you’ll have gained from working in either an insurance broking or insurance company environment.

Your expertise should extend to having a broad understanding of the range of commercial insurance coverages available in the insurance market: in particular property, casualty and financial lines.  An understanding of statutory engineering inspection requirements would also be beneficial.

You should be confident and comfortable in dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders, be reliable and honest with strong negotiating skills as well as having the ability to clearly articulate insurance coverage issues with non-insurance colleagues.

A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is crucial, as is your ability to effectively plan, organise and prioritise activities to ensure that you meet time-bound commitments. With teamwork as one of our core values you should enjoy working collaboratively, sharing best practice and supporting colleagues where possible.
