Reporting into the Head of Performance and Quality for Corporate Infrastructure and Development (CID) and working at both a strategic and tactical level, our new Engagement Specialist will own, define, develop, deliver and evaluate quality, integrated engagement and communications strategies for CID staff and internal customers across the whole SSE group. CID is responsible for property, fleet, travel, innovation and facilities management services across SSE, representing a £175m spend so this is a high profile role and will allow the chance to make a positive impact across the group.
The role will be varied and on a daily basis you will manage the communication of CID strategy, services, performance levels and changes to services across the whole of SSE. Your target audience groups will be very diverse, ranging from Director level through to individual staff members and will span interactions from small groups up to all 23,000 SSE staff members. We are looking for someone who can raise the profile of the work that CID is doing and increase the staff engagement around the CID strategy and performance.
We expect our perfect candidate to bring with them experience of developing and shaping strong engagement principles, frameworks, methodologies and deliverable templates to support an overarching business change framework, gained in a comparable FTSE-100 or equivalent sized organisation. We think that they will be degree educated and ideally with a post-graduate qualification in internal communications. They would need to have good knowledge of change communications methodology and have insights into current thought leadership around approaches and cross industry perspectives within the field. We want them to have significant experience in coaching, mentoring and supporting staff on engagement and communications and providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders.
From a skills perspective we are looking for someone who is resourceful and has the ability to work autonomously with only high level direction and limited supervision. As things can change rapidly in our industry its essential that we find someone who is adept at working to tight deadlines with a flexible nature to respond to changing priorities, often in high pressured situations. How you communicate will be key, so it’s essential that you have the ability to influence and be adaptable, confident and charismatic with the skill to vary your style for different audiences- from senior management to operational staff. We need you to be able to deal with ambiguity, developing and mobilising the overall engagement approach and managing an in-flight portfolio, while shaping and managing new projects through the early stages of inception and authorisation.
In return for your hard work, we can offer you a competitive salary package in a position which has excellent routes for career progression within the SSE Group. You will also enjoy an attractive benefits package, including pension, share plans, a generous leave entitlement (with options to purchase additional leave), reductions on energy, phone and broadband bills, plus a host of other rewards and lifestyle benefits. As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from everyone, and value diversity in our workforce. We will consider part time and/or flexible working arrangements for this role.
