SSE Enterprise Utilities
Location: Slough or Reading
Salary: £36,500 - £55,000 per annum, plus annual incentive and excellent benefits
SSE Enterprise Utilities designs, builds and owns electricity, gas, heat and water networks for residential and commercial developments throughout the UK ranging from small domestic housing developments and shopping centres to large commercial retail and industrial parks. This role will sit within our team at Slough Heat and Power. Slough Heat and Power (SHP) provides electrical power to the Slough Trading Estate by means of a private electrical power network. It owns and operates a number of primary and secondary substations including 33kV, 11kV and LV assets.
Within the role of Contracts Manager you’ll lead customer and stakeholder negotiations in developing proposals for new connections varying from £10k - £20m. You’ll be responsible for developing robust estimates to support these connections and ensure bid governance is adhered to. You’ll lead the set up of the contract management function and drive contract management best practices across the Slough Heat and Power Team focused on the performance of contractual agreements. Working seamlessly with the networks team, you’ll manage the income, programme and reporting on the expenditure on WIP projects ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time on budget to customer satisfaction.
As an experienced Contracts Manager you’ll be the first point of contact on enquiries relating to new connections on the Slough Trading Estate and represent SSE and address queries raised by internal and external stakeholders regarding the interpretation of existing contracts. You’ll ensure any enquiries are documented, handled timely, professionally and to completion and ensure any issues concerns and/or risks are escalated when identified.
You’ll take the lead in regular contract performance reviews with internal and external stakeholders and set up, own and manage tracking and reporting tools for key performance indicators. With strong commercial knowledge, you’ll be involved in budget management across the Slough Heat and Power team to ensure maximum utilisation of available and contracted resources and provide inputs to the monthly financial performance reviews based on contract performance/KPIs, and identify key contractual risks and opportunities.
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have previous experience as a Contracts Manager or Contract Negotiator with a proven background in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts. A detail-oriented individual with excellent organisational skills, you’ll have the ability to set up, track, and report on KPIs and resolve any issues and escalate when required. You’ll be a team player and ability to impact and influence decisions internally and externally with the capability to understand complex commercial and technical issues.
