Cable Layer

Location: Poole

Salary: £22,997 to £27,374 depending on skills and experience

Permanent – Full Time Hours

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cable Layer to join our team based in Poole; you’ll work on a variety of projects, and get involved at all stages. In your role, you’ll set up sites to comply with Street Works legislation, work on excavation projects and undertake cable and pipe laying responsibilities as well as other ad hoc requests. Throughout your duties, you’ll work to the highest level of care with a conscious attitude towards cost and efficiency at all times.

To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask that you have a ‘hands on’ approach to your work; this role is physically demanding and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions so you must be ready to adapt to the task at hand. You’ll have a full driving license and have worked in a similar role before. Your tickets should include NRSWA Streetworks and if you have additional plant operation tickets that would be a bonus. Due to the nature of the role, you’ll be asked to take part in standby duties, responding to faults overnight and at weekends as part of a rota, so you should be flexible with your time.

For us it's not just about being good at what you do - it's about enjoying what you do, too. So we'll encourage and empower you to be imaginative, share your great ideas, and do work that you can be proud of. In return, you'll enjoy a variety of benefits and development opportunities such as;

 - Tailored internal development opportunities

 - Generous holiday allowance (you can even buy additional holidays)

 - Great share plans

 - Group Pension Plan

 - One day paid volunteering

 - Discounted rates on energy, mobile contracts, broadband, restaurants, hotels, cinemas and many more

If you resonate with the above, click the Apply button to submit your application, with a CV to hand, it takes no more than 10 minutes.

Good luck!

Closing date for applications is: Tuesday 24th October 2017.
