We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulation Manager based in Dublin. The Regulation team is responsible for managing all regulatory activity on the island of Ireland.

Main Purpose of JOB

To co-ordinate and manage regulatory projects; be responsible for the delivery of regulatory activities; and influence CER and UR's thinking through regular engagement.

Responsibility for key regulatory policy and projects, contributing to the strategic direction of the SSE businesses in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The combined revenue of the businesses is in excess of £850 million.

In addition to interacting with the Utility Regulator and the Commission for Energy Regulation the Regulation Manager will work with other key external stakeholders and interact with industry groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of SSE regulatory policy requirements / projects
  • Contribute to the implementation of regulatory change
  • Ensure regulatory submissions are made on time and to high standards
  • Monitor CER and UR engagement
  • Monitor performance against CER & UR's expectations
  • Monitor the activity of external companies
  • Be an expert in regulation for the SSE businesses in Ireland
  • Strategic understanding of energy sector and impact on SSE Irelands’ interests
  • Understand and deliver SSE Ireland objectives for CER & UR decision making, including projects such as ISEM, EU Network Codes, NI Gas Price Control.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least five years in utility regulation – including direct experience in the area of wholesale energy, in particular understanding the wholesale electricity market in Ireland.
  • Degree-level qualification in: economics, finance, business, science, engineering or law.
  • Competent financial modelling and basic statistics.
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
