Electrical Lead Project Development Manager
SSE Enterprise Utilities
Salary: £41,500 - £62,500 depending on experience, plus excellent benefits
SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business for SSE. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers – providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management. The Distributed Energy team are currently expanding the Enterprise offering to new markets, sectors, and solutions.
Within the role of Electrical Lead Project Development Manager your main responsibility will be to manage project activity from a technical (electrical) perspective and build propositions for the Distributed Energy Business, working closely with SSE business customers in developing technical and commercial solutions. You will work with SSE business customers and the SSE Utilities Team in the development of Distributed Energy and Generation Solutions, from client engagement and scoping of the solution, to engagement with our supply chain, and delivery of the projects.
You will provide leadership, engineering oversight/authority, and drive resourcing decisions on Electrical Engineering capabilities to deliver projects, driving innovation and points-of-difference in our solution design. As a strong team worker, you will work closely with the Mechanical and Commercial Lead Project Development Managers to drive the design and delivery of Decentralised Energy solutions. You will build strong relationships with suppliers and consultants of HV electrical, cogeneration, energy efficiency technologies and energy storage solutions, and engage with them throughout the development of the solutions. You will advise and generate insights on energy generation, storage and efficiency technologies, propositions, and approaches that can be adopted to drive and deliver incremental profitable growth within B2B.
Where applicable, carry out technical due diligence and site surveys on Distributed Energy opportunities and carry out techno-economic modelling to develop the optimal technical and commercial solution. With strong customer focus, you will always ensure that technical solutions best reflect the client’s requirements. You will identify and propose internal working practices, capabilities, workflows, processes, and tools required to scale-up the delivery of new Distributed Energy services and propositions.
Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer with IET membership or equivalent with 10-15 years’ experience in an engineering design/management/consultancy role within the industrial or commercial sectors, consulting, or energy industry. You will have experience on project development and a strong understanding of current industry regulations, codes of practice and current engineering design standards. IDNO experience will be desirable.
You will be self motivated and committed to working on a wide range of projects without sacrificing quality of delivery and progression of projects with proven ability to effectively prioritise, plan and organise. In addition you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with different audiences and levels, tailoring your communication style to suit the situation. We're looking for a team player with the ability to impact and influence decisions internally and externally in a complex organisation.
Closing Date for applications is 25th October 2017.
In return, we will offer you a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement with options to purchase 10 days extra, discounted energy, phone and broadband plus many other excellent benefits.
