Salary: £36,000 - £54,000 (OL16) depending on skills and experience + car + bonus

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
Transmission are part of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, operating under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission plc for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain. We take the electricity generated from various sources, and transport it to areas of demand around our towns and cities.
As Senior Planning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in planning and scheduling services across a wide range of projects for the Transmission Business Unit. Serving as a technical expert in your department, you will work with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to plan and schedule full projects from conception to completion. Your responsibilities will be wide spanning and will allow you to supervise, create, implement and execute to agreed milestones and deadlines, whilst working to effectively mitigate risks.
To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you hold a qualification in a relevant discipline, to a minimum SVQ/NVQ level 5, in a field such as construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field. You should also have a demonstrable understanding of the Energy industry, and an active membership in a professional body or association; we always strive to be better, and so examples of your continual development are a bonus.
You should also have the ability to pick up new IT software, and effectively use company-standard planning and scheduling systems, including project or program specific systems; we use Primavera P6 in our teams, so any knowledge of this is a bonus. Sound knowledge of general IT systems such as the Microsoft suite is also essential. Your role will involve liaising and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, therefore it is crucial that you have excellent communication skills, along with outstanding organisation and customer relationship skills.
