SSE is a British FTSE 35 Company and is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK. Our business is powered by talented, enthusiastic people in a whole range of roles - supporting, co-ordinating and driving the business to meet our responsibilities and achieve our company goals.

This is a great opportunity to join SSE IT and to ensure the deployment of a consistent Environment Management process and manage all required practitioner participation. To date, such activities are performed on an ad hoc basis across IT which can lead to inconsistency and discrepancies, leaving us potentially at risk and impacting our ability to provide effective operational support.

In this very important role as the central point of accountability for Environment Management, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the organisation’s strategy for IT Environment Management and Accounting, including development, governance, compliance, reporting and continual improvement, and ensuring all Environment requirements are documented appropriately. In defining, managing and governing the end-to-end Environment lifecycle you will ensure a consistent and cost-effective approach to all aspects, such as provisioning, maintenance, management and decommissioning.

Solid experience in Environment Management, ideally gained in other organisations, and an understanding of the IT Environment Management processes, is essential as is your qualification at ITIL Practitioner level (or equivalent). You will have demonstrable technical or functional experience as well as knowledge of the requirements of the ISO 20000 standard and the interdependency of Service Management processes. All management of the process will be in line with ITIL guidelines and ISO 20000 requirements.

Your ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders and practitioners will be key to the role as you define aspects of the process and ensure appropriate controls are in place and all risks managed effectively. You must be capable of communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels of seniority, and be persuasive and effective in your approach to foster positive cooperation by all parties involved.

This is an exciting role where you'll face plenty of challenges; however, the rewards are as numerous as the opportunities.  As one of the UK's largest and fastest growing energy companies, we take great pride in our work and value our people. So, if you want to enjoy working in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process if their vetting level changes. This includes a basic criminal record check.
