Medway Power Station is a 710MW combined cycle gas turbine Power Station with two combustion turbines and one steam turbine located on the Isle of Grain in northeast Kent. The station operates 24/7 supplying power to the National Grid by two-shifting the asset and providing a range of other ancillary services such as reactive power, frequency response and black start. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering and maintenance teams.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day electrical maintenance, managing projects, developing long term asset and outage strategy, developing maintenance plans and procedures. As one of the technical experts on site you will be responsible for electrical asset maintenance, investigate plant defects, provide detailed root cause analysis and solutions. Improvement on safety, environmental, reliability and flexibility is important to us, so you will be required to contribute ideas and solutions which improve the safety, reliability, availability and efficiency of the asset.

You will have to ability to effectively recognise the need and requirement to provide direction and mentoring to others. You will have a good understanding of PMMS’s to enable you to effectively manage the existing maintenance strategy and to advise on areas of improvement to ensure the plant remains safe, efficient in a very competitive power generation market.

To be successful in this role you will be educated to a minimum of HND level in an electrical discipline and have experience of completing a similar role with a heavy engineering industry. Due to your experience you will have knowledge of contract legislation, regulation relating to Health and Safety and detailed knowledge in regard to legislation for electrical systems.

Good communication skills are essential to ensure you can work across multidiscipline teams and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable working to tight deadlines.
