SMOC Release and Environment Manager

Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC)

£38,265 - £50,539

The Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC) has a responsibility to manage several IT environments in support of Smart Metering and our Retail Transformation Programme (RTP). This role will ensure the business areas are aligned to their required functions, managing any and all releases into the environments from multiple sources, whilst supporting incident and problem management.

You will work with the relevant business, IT and 3rd party organisations to manage the effective implementation of new releases and upgrades into the Smart metering environment and will also manage the impact of other releases on the Smart world. You’ll ensure compliance and that all processes are documented with particular focus on aspects of governance and control. Furthermore, you’ll manage a centralised roadmap and will engage with the Process Owner of Change and Release Management to ensure plans are communicated and discussed. A key feature of this role will be identifying potential impacts and considerations and their likely effect on the Smart business operation so that possible conflict can be resolved.

To be successful in this role you will need a good understanding of our different Business areas, the Energy industry and IT, as well as knowledge of the architecture of systems supported by the Fault Management Team. You should have a good awareness of Smart Device Architecture and Smart Strategy and catalysts. A sound track record in configuration and release management combined with an ability to improve processes by changing approaches and working practices using recognised models will be essential.

You should have experience of working in a high pressure, multi-platform environment using your relationship building skills to coordinate the efforts of multiple technical teams. You’ll have excellent problem solving skills and should be well-organised, self-motivated and able to manage your own workload whilst addressing inevitable demands on your time. You’ll be strong on customer focus and resilience. Moreover, you should have excellent written, verbal, report writing and presentation skills, and be confident managing meetings and driving necessary actions.
