Head of Asset Management, Heat Networks
SSE Enterprise Utilities
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: Up to £72,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits
SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers – providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
The Head of Asset Management will be responsible for running all heat networks assets under management of SSE Enterprise Utilities. Leading a team of energy performance managers and engineers, you will drive operational performance through asset lifecycle performance management and optimise returns from assets.
Within this role you will be required to lead and develop the heat asset management team and bring a best practise approach to management, inspiring your team to over-achieve. You will ensure the asset management teams make strong commercial decisions with focus on simple KPIs and performance metrics. Working with our in-house O&M team and sub-contractors, you will define an asset maintenance plan which optimises the energy performance of assets and minimises our costs-of-production.
You will ultimately be responsible for the P&L of the heat networks business and for driving asset performance to deliver against the financial objectives of the utilities business: specifically P&L and cashflow objectives. You will drive accurate, data and fact-based decision making underpinned by IPMVP or an equivalent independent measurement and verification standard.
Working with your peers in the asset management team and across Utilities you will ensure full chain-of-custody for projects from project development, through to delivery and adoption, and into asset management and operations. You will implement strong governance and controls over our assets to underpin robust financial and operational performance. Working closely with SSE Enterprise Finance, you will bring clarity to forecasting, reporting, and business accounting management. Within this role, you will work closely with the Director of Distributed Energy and the Business Development team to ensure that all projects being developed meet the requirements of the asset management team and meet all commercial, technical, operational and contractual issues.
To be successful in this role you will have experience within Energy Services, Energy Performance and Asset Management. With an excellent understanding of energy economics on generation assets, you will have experience in setting business plans and strategy and maximising revenue streams from leveraging market mechanisms such as TRIAD, STOR and other demand management incentives. Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer with a strong understanding of principles of energy asset management and the UK energy market fundamentals and with exceptional commercial and financial acumen.
At SSE you'll also enjoy a variety of benefits and development opportunities. On top of a competitive salary, you'll enjoy generous holiday entitlement, a Group Pension Plan, share options and discounts on energy bills, phone and broadband.
