Head of IT Delivery – Portfolio Integration

Base: Reading or Havant

6-figure package and excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate

SSE is a British FTSE 35 Company and is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK. Our business is powered by talented, enthusiastic people in a whole range of roles - supporting, co-ordinating and driving the business to meet our responsibilities and achieve our company goals. We are transforming our business with an ambitious and far reaching programme of change, enabled by IT.

In this exciting and challenging role, as Head of IT Delivery for Retail, you will be responsible for implementing the strategy, solutions and supporting processes to deliver the IT enablement of the Retail directorate roadmap, including the delivery of a number of diverse, large and high-profile programmes and projects to facilitate significant change. The essential component of this is the development and maintenance of the investment roadmap which takes account of the technical, delivery and business challenges across the Retail businesses: Airtricity & Northern Ireland; Home Essential Services; Metering; Domestic Energy; Connected Homes.

To meet the demands of this role, you will demonstrate significant IT Business Partnership skills, Senior Stakeholder management, financial acumen, technical awareness, and experience of leading portfolios and multi-million pound programmes of work. Along with your drive and flexibility, these will enable you to understand and align to the Retail business delivery portfolio as well as defining, prioritising and maintaining the IT strategic development portfolio. Whilst ensuring that all delivery conforms to quality, architecture and strategic objectives and constraints, you will also manage financial allocation within the Retail IT portfolio and coordinate cross-portfolio scope, dependencies, risks and issues as well as managing the portfolio release roadmap. You will also bring understanding of the safety and environmental aspects of large multi-disciplinary projects.

The IT function has up to 150 staff which are a mixture of internal staff, partner and third-party resources and your budgetary responsibility for annualised projects expenditure will be up to £50m. Decision-making ability for the allocation of resources and the award of individual contracts is key to your success in the role, as is your ability to influence and your regular engagement with the Director, Managing Director and Leadership Teams.

Ideal candidates will have held a Senior IT role, demonstrating operational excellence, in a large commercial enterprise, such as manufacturing, or could be looking for a suitable move following a consultancy role.

This is an exciting role where you'll face plenty of challenges, but the rewards are as numerous as the opportunities. As one of the UK's largest and fastest growing energy companies, we take great pride in our work. So, if you want to work in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process. This includes a basic criminal record check.
