Salary: £33,520 - £44,269 (SS07) depending on experience

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. 

The Connections Team are the first point of contact for customers wishing to have a new electricity connection, increase the size of their existing connection, install generation, or move the equipment supplying their property. We also speak to many customers regarding other general engineering enquiries and we take payments for all chargeable works.

Due to changes within our connection team in the North of Scotland, we have an exciting opportunity a Network Connections Designer to join our Connection design team. You responsibilities will be wide spanning and include designing, costing and quoting of new electrical connections for domestic, commercial and industrial developments.  

To be successful in this position, you should have relevant electrical qualification (incl. City & Guilds, ONC) or equivalent previous experience in a power systems environment although neither is essential to your application. You will be commercially aware, and have a keen eye for the detail both in technical and commercial terms.  Due to the nature of the role some travel may be required, therefore it is essential that you hold a full clean driving licence.

You will value safety as a priority, minimising risks at design stage for safe installation and lifetime maintenance. A commitment to excellent customer service whilst delivering quotations in line with our Guaranteed Standards of Performance.

It is vital that you are organised, flexible and self motivated, with excellent communication skills. This is a busy role therefore it is important that you have the ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines within a pressured but also exciting environment. In addition, you should have excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word with a flair for picking up new systems.
