Salary: £34,123 - £45,066 (SS07) depending on skills and experience

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

The Commercial and Connections team are situated across the country in locations such as Perth, Inverness, Reading and Portsmouth. We are the first point of contact for customers wishing to have a new electricity connection, increase the size of their existing connection, install generation, or move the equipment supplying their property. We're here to help whether our customers are building a single home, housing development, industrial development, generation development or independent distribution network.

Our non-contestable design teams operate across our network, ensuring Guaranteed Standards and safety regulations are exceeded and carried out with the highest duty of care. We work on internal and external customer projects, and provide our customers with points of connection, design projects and design approvals; this is where you come in! Working closely with your team, you will work on a variety of projects, including large housing and industrial developments falling between 250kVA and 5MW, and connecting to the 11kV network. Your responsibilities may also include diversions, metered and unmetered supplies, disconnections, generation and demand, allowing you a wide span of exposure across our business.

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you have an in depth knowledge of both low and high voltage distribution, and power systems networks. In addition, you’ll hold experience of working in a cross skilled team, and be able to adapt to the differing projects you are involved in.

Our safety culture is at the forefront of our every activity, and so a high regard for your own safety, and that of your team is essential. You’ll be a good communicator, with a knack for delivering complex messages in an easy to understand manner. Basic IT skills are key, including Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel; we use a variety of specialist software internally, so a flair for picking up new systems will be very handy.
