Salary: £42,908 - £56,671 depending on experience

Our job at SSE is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way and we're involved in producing, distributing and supplying electricity and gas as well as providing other energy-related services.

The core location for this role is our newly developed offices at No. 1 Forbury Place, conveniently located in Reading town centre. This new location offers flexibility in the way we work, and with this in mind, this role can be carried out splitting time between the office and either your home or another SSEN location.

 

Digital Studio Team

We are responsible for delivering continuous improvements and new capabilities to our web and app channels, over the last year the Digital team have moved to an agile approach which has successfully delivered major projects such as Responsive Services and Online Smart Appointments on time and budget, while greatly reducing both risks and costs.  We are now expanding our team and looking forward to delivering challenging new projects and continued success but we need to diversify our team, skill sets and generate new ideas. 

I like the sound of that, what will I be doing in the role?

As an Agile Delivery Lead you will report into the Digital Engine Lead. You will be responsible for leading one or more Agile teams within the Digital Studio across a specific channel or technology. The Digital Engine is the team within SSE's Digital Studio, where concepts are developed into working software.

Your key responsibilities will include:

 - Coaching delivery teams within a specific channel or technology (e.g. web or iOS).

 - Coach Product Owners and stakeholders to appropriate levels of ownership and collaboration.

 - Ensure that expectations are aligned with regards to the goals, scope and timelines for product delivery.

 - Ensuring that delivery teams follow our defined agile approach to delivery and that activity is co-ordinated accordingly.

 - Ensure that all risks and issues are appropriately managed in alignment to our defined agile delivery approach.

 - Proactively use data to drive continual improvements at delivery team level.

 - Ensure that delivery inception activity, planning, story mapping, daily stand-up and retrospectives are well facilitated.

 - Facilitation of programme/release level planning across multiple teams.

That sounds very interesting, but what do you need from me?

With a strong belief in Agile/Lean working practices and experience of coaching at all levels, from delivery team to senior management you will be capable of influencing across a broad range of stakeholders. You will have experience of working in fast paced digital retail environments, along with a well-rounded understanding of product and proposition development.

As an experienced Agile Delivery Lead it is likely that your background will include coaching Kanban, Scrum, Lean and XP practices and principles. You will have a deep understanding of the importance of quality in delivery and extensive experience of working with high performing agile teams in CI/CD environments.

You will have deep and demonstrable understanding and experience of BDD driven software development and test practices and workflow optimisation.
