PRICING ANALYST – TARIFF MANAGEMENT

The Pricing team is responsible for driving profitability and future strategy for a c.7M customer domestic business and managing income for a £2.5bn Industrial and Commercial business. Our core purpose is to 'provide strong commercial decisions in a pricing strategy and within every tariff decision'. The team reports into the Commercial Director of Domestic Retail. The Tariff Management function is key to delivering the Pricing team core purpose through partnering the business to ensure we build sound evidence based business cases for new tariffs and propositions.
This is a new role in the Tariff Management function of the Pricing Team within Domestic Retail. Working within our framework you will build, operate and improve financial models for investment in new tariffs, propositions and sales and retention activity.
You will develop reporting on the key performance metrics of tariffs both live and post maturity which will provide greater visibility of the economics, hedge positions and behaviour of our customers. This enhanced visibility will enable the business to take corrective action and provide more accurate assumptions for future business cases.
Working closely with Customer Planning and Propositions, you will design and build a financial model to consolidate the tariff plan. This will enable a greater understanding of the impact to the P&L from fixed tariff decisions. You will also work closely with Finance to improve the activity based recognition of our cost base for financial models.
As part of this role you will continuously recommend improvements to current processes within the Tariff Management function.
We are looking for someone who has advanced Excel skills with the ability to formulate and manipulate data. A good working knowledge of VBA coding would be valuable.
You must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a strong focus on delivery within defined timescales. You should have the confidence to manage stakeholders at all levels of the business and be able to explain calculation rationales clearly. You'll be an accurate worker with a keen eye for detail and, in addition, you should be comfortable working in a close knit team within a fast paced environment.
The role holder should hold a relevant degree or equivalent level of experience ideally within a retail pricing environment. Awareness of the utilities market would be beneficial.
