This role is in the Wholesale Legal Team and will primarily focus on SSE Business Energy, one of the U.K's leading suppliers of energy to business customers with an ambitious strategy for growth based around our business progressively delivering more value for our customers and the Group. You will be required to liaise and communicate directly with Business Energy Senior Management to support this. The wider team supports a wide variety of businesses including Thermal and Renewable Generation, Oil and Gas, and Energy  Portfolio Management providing a great opportunity to develop knowledge of this sector. Your input will enable Business Energy to understand their rights, obligations, liabilities and risks, and to assist in forming strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise  risks. You will be required to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, licences and industry codes and meet- high standards of corporate governance.

Your responsibilities will extend to providing general commercial advice to project teams, managers and individuals and to draft and negotiate a variety of commercial and customer contracts.

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified solicitor with around 3-6  years PQE, preferably with a Corporate, Commercial or Energy background. Personable with highly developed communication and negotiation skills, you will be highly organised and pragmatic with the ability to be flexible and thrive under pressure.

Some knowledge of the Energy industry would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.  Excellent negotiation and drafting skills are essential for this role.  As periodic travel between our offices throughout the UK is expected, a full UK driving licence is desirable.
