PMO Manager - Continuous Improvement Projects

Portsmouth (Havant)

Permanent or Fixed Term Contract considered

£37,588 - £49,645

Your role will be to establish the Project Management Office (PMO). You’ll work alongside senior managers, business leads and subject matter experts within Continuous Improvement (CI) and Smart Deployment, ensuring standards and processes align with our wider business, and putting controls in place to ensure delivery of our strategic objectives.

CI in Metering and Smart Transformation has three clear remits: to enable the efficient and effective ramp up and delivery of over 7m Smart Meters and an increased focus on customer excellence; to support the efficient and effective transition and closure of the legacy Metering business, and to embed a Continuous Improvement culture as part of the business wide performance improvement programme. It's within this environment that you’ll apply the principles of a PMO setting, whilst recognising the need to allow innovation to flourish.

You'll create and manage programme management standards and methodologies, such as reports, controls and processes, in order to establish relevant governance, reduce risk, apply best practice and increase efficiency. You'll identify key stakeholders and develop strong working relationships with them to manage risks across a complex business and set of value chains. Furthermore, you'll provide executive reporting for the CI, Deployment Operations Centre (DOC) and the Executive Steering Group (ESG).

To be successful, you’ll need experience of working in a high profile or risk based organisation and be knowledgeable about Continuous Improvement, ideally with relevant experience of Lean and/or Six Sigma. Green belt experience would be beneficial although training may be provided for the right candidate. You should have a background in programme management and be qualified to practitioner level (Prince II or equivalent) with the ability to apply your knowledge to address the challenges in hand. Furthermore, you should have a thorough awareness of key project processes, including status reporting, budgeting and estimating, planning, dependency management, risk and issue management, quality gates, and change management.

You should be self-motivated and upbeat. Adept at working to tight deadlines, you’ll respond promptly to changing priorities in a fast paced environment. Highly organised and with strong written and oral communication skills, you’ll be persuasive, encouraging and inspiring.

We value you as a member of our team, so you'll enjoy an excellent benefits package, including pension scheme, share save and share incentive schemes, generous annual leave entitlement (with the opportunity to purchase additional leave), discounted energy, phone and broadband, plus a host of other lifestyle benefits.

Closing date for applications is Friday 9 June 2017

The successful candidate may be subject to verification and vetting which includes a basic criminal records check.
